Storage Heater and Custom Guards are the Wire Departments main product. We have a large range of standard items for storage heaters, however, should these not be suitable we should be able to make up a custom item to suit your heater dimensions. CUSTOM GUARDS Custom guards are made from 1" square mesh and can be dipped in either white or 'Dimplex' willow white. Guards are made as a safety item and are designed to ensure a minimum of 80mm clearance between the heater and the guard (BSEN 60529). This clearance prevents fingers from touching the heater. To conform with Trading Standards Directives, no access to the controls is produced.
In order for us to make custom guards to your requirements, we need precise dimensions of your heater. i.e. we would need the HEIGHT (from the floor to the top of the radiator), the WIDTH (from left to right, normally including the valves if any), and the DEPTH (from the wall out to the front of the heater). These dimensions (which can be given in either inches or mm's) would
allow us to give you an immediate pricing for the guard. Other
allowances which can be made are for window sills, pipes and valves,
and any other items which coincide with the 80mm clearance around the
heater. A small additional charge is made for several cut-outs. Should
your heater be very close to a wall on one side, it is quite simple for
us to make the guard without this panel.
